1) CLEAR VISION
Minimalism isn’t just an aesthetic for home décor or fashion—less is more when it comes to wedding design for Emmily Jones of Gatherist. Here, a palette of monochromatic whites, contrasting tone-on-tone pinks, and botanical elements create a clean Palm Springs Meets Japanese-Minimalism vibe. “I’ve been intrigued lately by Japanese interior and lifestyle design, which encompasses peaceful simplicity, uncluttered spaces, and the incorporation of nature and openness,” explains Jones. “The major element in this overall design is the concept of restraint; I always have this in mind when designing. If something seems off with a table, it’s generally because something should be removed or moved to a different place.”
IN BLOOM
Florist Ashley Beyer of Tinge followed the same pared-back ethos, focusing on shape and structure, when arranging these minimal and refined stems, including white peonies, tulips, ranunculus, mojelike, bleeding heart, maidenhair fern, lily of the valley, spirea, hyacinth, and blueberry. “The table design really allowed each bloom to have its moment,” says Beyer. “By placing a single stem or a few of the same stem in a vase, you can appreciate each bloom for what it is.” Chic marble details, pops of citrus, and plants add interest to the wedding environment and emphasize the of-the-moment design.
FRESH WHITES
The clean lines and refreshing simplicity of these place settings perfectly illustrate Jones’s less-is-more approach: one piece of flatware, low-profile glassware, white natural ceramic dinnerware, and quietly beautiful menus by Nikkol Christiansen of Refine Studio. Her custom menu design (pictured above) includes a marble vellum overlay, blind letterpress courtesy of Rowley Press, modern typography, and a drop-shadow to add depth. For the bouquet (pictured below), Beyer kept the floral variety simple and instead focused on shape; the primary blooms include white peonies, mojelike spray roses, and bleeding heart.
MODERN MARBLE
Cool marble-inspired jewels by Katie Waltman act as contemporary accessories for brides or bridesmaids.
VERY INVITING
To complement the dinner menus, Christiansen and Jones chose modern typography, white marble detailing, and blind letterpress for the invitation suite (pictured above). “Nikkol did a superb job at taking the vision and creating something astounding and innovative,” says Jones.
ETCHED IN STONE
Cassidy Budge of Flour & Flourish followed suit with this refined confection featuring a subtle marble pattern on two extra-tall tiers of her Chocolate, Chocolate Cake (one of her most popular flavors), accented with a thin gold-leaf band that is reminiscent of a wedding ring.
YES WAY ROSÉ
Serve a chilled rose during cocktail hour or dinner, like this bottle by Lorenza Rosé, for a refreshing alternative to red and white wine.
BEST TRESSED

“Studio Elevn was the perfect fit for this design,” says Jones. “With its white walls, natural-lit spaces, and windows that offer the perfect shadows, every aspect of the venue played a part in the clean, minimal, and modern design. It’s the perfect space for a couple who would like to be able to create freely.”

2) NATURAL WONDER
Modern elements mix and mingle with timeless details in this rich reception-style design by Allison Baddley of LA FÊTE Floral & Events. With a hip, hopelessly romantic couple in mind, she set out to create this timeless yet on-trend tablescape. “My whole motivation behind wedding design in general is to stay away from fads and create a dateless and unique design for every couple, but also keep in mind current trends in fashion and interiors,” she explains. “Every element for me has to be intentional and mix well within the design; it’s a fine balance.” She achieved that balance here, thanks to the perfect ratio of both masculine and feminine details: metallics including shiny copper (her favorite detail), luxe cognac leather, contemporary wood, luscious dark blackberries, and warm caramel.
FINE & DANDY
A heavy gray table linen sets the stage for it all, topped with minimal ivory plates, copper bowls, charcoal-dipped stainless steel flatware, and linen napkins. Baddley’s wild, lush floral arrangement ushers in the romance; the stems include dark burgundy and purple ranunculus, dark red peonies, purple and coppery foliage, and irises. “Dark purple hellebore and fritillary are a favorite of mine to add texture and whimsy,” says Baddley. “I love the purple fringe tulips that stand out in the arrangements.”
COPPER ETIQUETTE
“When I saw the mood board for this shoot, I was in love,” says Nikkol Christiansen of Refine Studio, who also designed the custom paper goods for Baddley’s spread. “A dark palette with grey and plum tones offset with copper is a beautiful place to start.” She chose simple but lovely typefaces for the printed materials, plus a thin line of copper for the dinner menus (pictured above) and copper-foil envelope liners for the invitation suite (pictured below). Similar to Baddley’s balance of elements, Christiansen says, “my design aesthetic definitely starts with a masculine foundation and is layered with feminine details.”
MIXED METALS
Tauri Tucker of Pippa Cakery baked this decadent, tiered caramel cake with balsamic blackberry filling and vanilla buttercream, added a touch of edible gold foil, and hand-drizzled the confection with warm, gooey caramel topping.
SWEET ON YOU
For wedding favors, Baddley bought bags of rich, buttery, and locally made Bees Brothers honey caramels and presented them in custom copper-foil favor boxes handmade by Refine Studio.
CHEESE, PLEASE
Baddley served up a fruit and cheese board, rich in both flavor and color, featuring almonds, cheeses, grapes, and fresh Brigham City peaches. To drink, she mixed up Blackberry Moscow Mules (see recipe below) for fruity signature cocktails—their classic copper mugs are a nod to the metallic theme.
Blackberry Moscow Mule Recipe
yield – 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
5 blackberries
1 lime wheel
Your favorite ginger beer
1 ½ oz. favorite vodka (or omit for nonalcoholic option)
Ice
Mint for garnish
Directions:
In the bottom of a Moscow Mule mug, muddle together the blackberries and lime. Fill the glass halfway full of ice. Add the vodka and fill the rest of the way with ginger beer. Stir to combine.
URBAN OASIS
“A couple’s event venue is very important to me when designing and should be considered when creating the overall vision,” says Baddley. “Studio Elevn is a blank white industrial palette, which makes it easy to work with, and reflected the modern, minimalist design. Because of this, I also knew I wanted to incorporate a touch of white into my décor and florals.”

Centrally located in downtown Salt Lake City, the top-floor space at Studio Elevn is an urban-chic venue for unique and creative celebrations. Studio A is 2,300 square feet, while Studio B offers a more intimate setting with 1,300 square feet; they can accommodate events of multiple sizes and uses. Both studios have naturally beautiful lighting with modern, industrial vibes. White walls provide a blank canvas to portray any wedding design or concept. There’s also a bridal/lounge room and a catering/prep area. Audio equipment, bar services, event planning and coordination, furniture, table options, lighting, and more are also available.
